A Gluten-Free Dessert Package Giveaway

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

I was so happy when the postman dropped off a giant box for me. It was full of gluten-free Betty Crocker dessert mixes just in time for the holiday weekend - courtesy of My Blogspark. The best part, aside from eating the goodies, is I get to give an identical package away to my U.S. readers. I apologize that I can't include you all. The mixes are only available in the U.S. Even thought right on the side of the box it says Product of Canada?! You can find out more about these gluten-free mixes on the Betty Crocker website.

Here is what My Blogspark says about the mixes:

"Betty Crocker® Gluten Free Dessert Mixes are making their way onto grocery shelves this summer. There are four new dessert options - all made in a gluten-free processing facility.

As I´m sure you know, until now baking for yourself or a loved one who has celiac disease often meant preparing two kinds of sweet treats for one gathering - one for the gluten-free eater and another for everyone else. Also gluten-free mixes were often difficult to find and required a separate trip to a specialty grocery store. With the easy-to-find Betty Crocker Gluten Free Dessert Mixes, you can once again enjoy - and share - these sweet moments and desserts with everyone.

And, gluten free is tasty too - these new mixes create a sweet treat that´s truly delicious from everyone´s perspective, even those who do not follow a gluten-free diet."

First up is the chocolate chip cookie mix. I've baked gluten-free before and it's not an easy task. I've had lots of failures. Crumbly, dry, funny-tasting, and sunken, to name a few. The flours and ingredients are expensive and sometimes hard to find. I gave up gluten for five months last year right before starting this blog. I was having some issues that I thought were related to gluten/wheat. By the fourth day without I felt remarkably better. After five months I slowly started adding gluten back in small amounts without any ill effects. But back to the cookies. They bake up thin, soft, and crispy at the same time. I was surprised at how delicious they are. They have a nice flavor. If you gave me one without telling me it was gluten-free I wouldn't have a clue. These would of been heaven-sent during those five months without. My Dad and Mom both liked them, too, and my Dad eats Chocolate Chip Cookies almost every day of his life. The real test will be the cake. I will let you know how it turns out.

The 'Sweet Moments' Dessert Package Includes:

* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix

* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Devil´s Food Cake Mix

* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownie Mix

* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

* 2 coupons for 2 more baking mixes of your choice

* a reusable shopping bag

*a magnetic shopping list and pen

Oooh, lovely giveaway! And how awesome they sent you two batches :D It's awesome that companies are making gluten-free options more accessible.

My favorite gluten-free recipe is for Lemon Poppyseed muffins. Not exactly a traditional dessert, but they are so rich and moist they hit the spot.

Cakes, pies and cookies are our fave desserts. It's hard to pick one. We do not have a problem with gluten, but it'd be fun to try more cooking that is gluten-free!

Haven't baked anything gluten-free yet. Just started eliminating gluten from my diet about 2 months ago. I really can't wait to try some of the mixes I have seen.

P.S. Tweeted about your giveaway. My username is MissyMelissa!

I'm so glad that many of the major companies are catering to the many people who can't have gluten. I went gluten-free a couple of weeks ago, and still haven't gotten up the nerve to try baking. I want to make sure that gluten is my problem before investing in all of the pricey ingredients, but I'm sure I'll try it out eventually.

Ooh we'd love to try these! Our family has a gluten allergy, which makes baking very hard to please everyone. We usually buy pre-made gluten-free snacks, unfortunately most don't taste that good :(

Thanks!

My husband and his fam are gluten free and I've tried my hand baking a few things (I just took some gf zucchini bread out of the oven! but that is not a dessert hehe). My favorite GF baked dessert so far has to be the lemon-almond cake that I made adapted from Elana's Pantry's orange almond cake recipe. And then I topped it with a chocolate strawberry port wine sauce, and we were in gluten free heaven :)

Baking GF is def. a challenge for me so far, and the worst part is wondering if it will turn out anything like what I had intended ;)

I used to have a roommate who just started going gluten-free. I used gluten-free flour to make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies a couple of times. the cookies would brown faster, but they tasted just as good. My roommate liked them.

What a generous giveaway. I have never baked gluten free before.

These cookies look so soft and chewy, I wouldn't have guessed they were gluten free.

Chocolate chip cookies are actually my all-time favorite dessert!

Lori said...

I have never purposefully baked gluten free, although I do some flourless cakes and muffins, which probably are gluten free!

The 1 minute muffin comes to mind first:

1 egg
1/4 cup flax meal
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tablespoon pumpkin
1 tsp brown sugar.
cinnamon

Blend and microwave in a silicone muffin cup for about 1 minute or so until cooked through.

I was first told I had a wheat sensitivity almost 20 years ago. I tried to avoid wheat, but there were so few products, and what there was, wasn't good. I decided recently to try again, and have been much healthier. I'm ready to try baking gf, and am excited at the positive comments I am reading about products available. I love baking, and will be happy to try any/all.

My husband was diagnosed with celiac disease several years ago. As a result, our home is now gluten-free. I have become an expert label reader and GF converter of family favorites. Baking however eludes me since baked goods tend to be dry. Always on the lookout for moist, GF products! Twitter name is @shirley8153.

I saw the title of the post and immediately you had me hooked. I come from a long line of glutton intolerance and finding deserts - let alone baking them - can be a real challenge. My sister and I have recently gone completely glutton free and it's made such a difference in our way of life (I found out wheat was the primary cause of my horrid acne). But I won't bore you with the details.

Rice flour is the best substitute we've found for wheat flour and we love glutton free bread and pasta. It's amazing the progress that's been made in the last ten years!

I love your blog!! Thank you so much for all the comments you put on mine...so appreciated!
Come by my blog and see the award I just nominated you for...and I've linked to your site!
