I was so happy when the postman dropped off a giant box for me. It was full of gluten-free Betty Crocker dessert mixes just in time for the holiday weekend - courtesy of My Blogspark. The best part, aside from eating the goodies, is I get to give an identical package away to my U.S. readers. I apologize that I can't include you all. The mixes are only available in the U.S. Even thought right on the side of the box it says Product of Canada?! You can find out more about these gluten-free mixes on the Betty Crocker website.
Here is what My Blogspark says about the mixes:
"Betty Crocker® Gluten Free Dessert Mixes are making their way onto grocery shelves this summer. There are four new dessert options - all made in a gluten-free processing facility.
As I´m sure you know, until now baking for yourself or a loved one who has celiac disease often meant preparing two kinds of sweet treats for one gathering - one for the gluten-free eater and another for everyone else. Also gluten-free mixes were often difficult to find and required a separate trip to a specialty grocery store. With the easy-to-find Betty Crocker Gluten Free Dessert Mixes, you can once again enjoy - and share - these sweet moments and desserts with everyone.
And, gluten free is tasty too - these new mixes create a sweet treat that´s truly delicious from everyone´s perspective, even those who do not follow a gluten-free diet."
First up is the chocolate chip cookie mix. I've baked gluten-free before and it's not an easy task. I've had lots of failures. Crumbly, dry, funny-tasting, and sunken, to name a few. The flours and ingredients are expensive and sometimes hard to find. I gave up gluten for five months last year right before starting this blog. I was having some issues that I thought were related to gluten/wheat. By the fourth day without I felt remarkably better. After five months I slowly started adding gluten back in small amounts without any ill effects. But back to the cookies. They bake up thin, soft, and crispy at the same time. I was surprised at how delicious they are. They have a nice flavor. If you gave me one without telling me it was gluten-free I wouldn't have a clue. These would of been heaven-sent during those five months without. My Dad and Mom both liked them, too, and my Dad eats Chocolate Chip Cookies almost every day of his life. The real test will be the cake. I will let you know how it turns out.
The 'Sweet Moments' Dessert Package Includes:
* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Devil´s Food Cake Mix
* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownie Mix
* Betty Crocker Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
* 2 coupons for 2 more baking mixes of your choice
* a reusable shopping bag
*a magnetic shopping list and pen

It's fun to get packages in the mail! Just like Christmas no matter what your age...GREG
This is awesome news! I have been looking for a good gluten-free cake recipe for my cupcake business! I will have to looks for these! I have made gluten free pancakes with rice flour and oat flour. They weren't too bad.
Great giveaway! I will go Tweet now and try Stumbling!

Oooh, lovely giveaway! And how awesome they sent you two batches :D It's awesome that companies are making gluten-free options more accessible.
My favorite gluten-free recipe is for Lemon Poppyseed muffins. Not exactly a traditional dessert, but they are so rich and moist they hit the spot.

Cakes, pies and cookies are our fave desserts. It's hard to pick one. We do not have a problem with gluten, but it'd be fun to try more cooking that is gluten-free!
Haven't baked anything gluten-free yet. Just started eliminating gluten from my diet about 2 months ago. I really can't wait to try some of the mixes I have seen.
P.S. Tweeted about your giveaway. My username is MissyMelissa!
I'm so glad that many of the major companies are catering to the many people who can't have gluten. I went gluten-free a couple of weeks ago, and still haven't gotten up the nerve to try baking. I want to make sure that gluten is my problem before investing in all of the pricey ingredients, but I'm sure I'll try it out eventually.
Lucky US reader(s).......
Cookies look very crispy....

Too funny! I got the big box from Betty Crocker and made the brownies yesterday! They were great. Going to try the cake next. I'll be posting and doing the giveaway on Monday so whoever doesn't win on your blog is welcome to come on over to mine! ;-)
Glad to hear the cookies were good too!
I've had gluten free cookies before and I was surprised at how good they really tasted. Nice giveaway!!
I was in the mood for chocolate/ peanut butter something but I didn't have very much flour in the pantry. I came upon these flourless chocolate pb cookies from BakingBites.com. They were perfect! They tasted like gooey peanut butter cups :)
I've never baked gluten free, but a friend of mine just got diagnosed. I can't wait to tell her about these products!
You would never know those cookies are flourless, they look scrumptious! I'll have to look for these in the store.
I've never baked gluten free, but you never know when you'll need to. My favorite dessert? Chocolate chip cookies. Definitely.
What a great giveaway. I've never baked gluten free but I would like to give it a try. Maybe it will help clear up some of my health issues :)
Excellent giveaway! I have made lots of GF baked goods over the past 3 years. My fav is pistachio cheesecake shown here:

Thanks! :)
Ooh we'd love to try these! Our family has a gluten allergy, which makes baking very hard to please everyone. We usually buy pre-made gluten-free snacks, unfortunately most don't taste that good :(
Thanks!

My husband and his fam are gluten free and I've tried my hand baking a few things (I just took some gf zucchini bread out of the oven! but that is not a dessert hehe). My favorite GF baked dessert so far has to be the lemon-almond cake that I made adapted from Elana's Pantry's orange almond cake recipe. And then I topped it with a chocolate strawberry port wine sauce, and we were in gluten free heaven :)
Baking GF is def. a challenge for me so far, and the worst part is wondering if it will turn out anything like what I had intended ;)
I used to have a roommate who just started going gluten-free. I used gluten-free flour to make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies a couple of times. the cookies would brown faster, but they tasted just as good. My roommate liked them.
That is so cool, receiving a great giveaway like this..
What a generous giveaway. I have never baked gluten free before.
These cookies look so soft and chewy, I wouldn't have guessed they were gluten free.
Chocolate chip cookies are actually my all-time favorite dessert!
I have never purposefully baked gluten free, although I do some flourless cakes and muffins, which probably are gluten free!
The 1 minute muffin comes to mind first:
1 egg
1/4 cup flax meal
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tablespoon pumpkin
1 tsp brown sugar.
cinnamon
Blend and microwave in a silicone muffin cup for about 1 minute or so until cooked through.
things have improved so much for celiacs as a dietitian i am thrilled about it, there really are greta tasting products out there for folks.
great post Rebecca
I was first told I had a wheat sensitivity almost 20 years ago. I tried to avoid wheat, but there were so few products, and what there was, wasn't good. I decided recently to try again, and have been much healthier. I'm ready to try baking gf, and am excited at the positive comments I am reading about products available. I love baking, and will be happy to try any/all.
oh, great giveaway! I know a lot of people with gluten allergies, though I myself have not yet cooked/baked with gluten-free items.
What a cool giveaway for your gluten-free readers! Ugh, you have me craving a load of chocolate chip cookies. They are my downfall!
I haven't baked anything gluten free before but I've looked into in an effort to clean up my diet. My fave dessert though has to be chocolate chip cookies warm out of the oven.
Those cookies look delicious. Too bad i am not eligible for the contest.
I haven't baked gluten free but I do try to stay away from gluten. I didn't know they had gluten free products.

Hugely encouraging and grand that Betty Crocker sees the need to now have gluten-free products. Grand giveaway! And the cookies look heavenly.
Awesome giveaway!!! My boss suffers from Crohn's disease and her birthday was on the 3rd and I actually made her the Betty Crocker gluten free chocolate cake. It was really tasty! Fingers are crossed that I win:)
I just twittered about it. Twitter name is NutmegNanny.
Ok I stumbled it too. I have never done that so lets hope it worked:)
The blog mixes sound great - I know a lot of people are trying to eat gluten free, which can be a challenge. So great that some companies are making it a bit easier!
My little sister has a gluten allergy and I've made no bake cookies with her but she has never been able to enjoy things like brownies or chocolate chip cookies. I'm definately going to look for these.
No celiacs in my immediate circle so I haven't made any. However I would love to try them to see how they taste!
I've made gluten free flourless chocolate cake before, and it's SOO GOOD!!!!!
stumbled!
So were you allergic to wheat? I'm confused.
This is a great giveaway. Oh heck i'm in England!!
Looks tasty!
I am in Canada... so I don't count... again.. sigh. ;-)
The last thing I baked was a gluten free strawberry cobbler cake. Delicious!
I tweeted about the contest (my username is @huggingthecoast). I also stumbled and reviewed this post.

I tried a gluten-free recipe from scratch and it sank in the middle.
Would love tasty goof-free mixes..
My husband was diagnosed with celiac disease several years ago. As a result, our home is now gluten-free. I have become an expert label reader and GF converter of family favorites. Baking however eludes me since baked goods tend to be dry. Always on the lookout for moist, GF products! Twitter name is @shirley8153.
I'll have to tell my friend about these mixes - she can't eat wheat, but loves cookies, et all!
Those just look so yummy!!!
I have never tried to bake gluten free but have thought many times about trying to cut it out of my diet!!!
My favorite dessert has always been tiramisu...can't help it Im Italian!!! :)
Fabulous giveaway! So yummy, and good for you!
I have not baked gluten free, but have toyed w/ the idea and researched it a bit because I have a friend with Celiac Disease (though she lives a couple of states away). How fun it would be to send her some goodies :)
I just tweeted it! (girlichef)
I haven't baked gluten free before but it would be so interesting to try it!

I made flourless peanut butter cookies that were out of this world good, when I told people they were flourless they were amazed! I have a flourless chocolate cookie recipe I'm going to try too! Very nice giveaway Reeni!
I'm sure I make things that are "gluten-less" all the time, but i've never had a big reason to otherwise. i have heard it has tremendous benefits though. great giveaway!
I have not baked Gluten Free yet. This is a whole new world for me as I am looking into a Gluten Free Diet for my Autistic son.
I tweeted http://twitter.com/a49erfangirl/status/2561674516
I am a49erfangirl on twitter.
I saw the title of the post and immediately you had me hooked. I come from a long line of glutton intolerance and finding deserts - let alone baking them - can be a real challenge. My sister and I have recently gone completely glutton free and it's made such a difference in our way of life (I found out wheat was the primary cause of my horrid acne). But I won't bore you with the details.
Rice flour is the best substitute we've found for wheat flour and we love glutton free bread and pasta. It's amazing the progress that's been made in the last ten years!
great gift~~
do you have any idea where can i get them in Malaysia, i don't think i can simply find them here.
I haven't baked gluten free, but a member of our small group at church is gluten free. I'd love to bring a dessert she can eat!
First time here Reenie..I missed many from you I know..Loved your blog..expect me often here.
ps, i have an award for you!
I'm a nutritionist and have had to develop quite a few gluten free recipes for clients with Celiac Disease, etc...before. It can be a bit tricky to do so for kids! But thankfully more and more companies are making it easier by developing ready to go, gluten free ingredients!
I love your blog!! Thank you so much for all the comments you put on mine...so appreciated!
Come by my blog and see the award I just nominated you for...and I've linked to your site!
All the best, Amanda

Reeni, beleive or not, I learnt about the celiac disease just yesterday. I hadn't even heard it until a friend asked for some gluten free recipes. Thanks for the info and the recipe here.
I've never purposely made anything gluten free, but one of my favorite desserts in angel food cake. Especially with some whipped cream and strawberries. :)
What a fun giveaway! I've never baked gluten free before on purpose.
Great giveaway! My dad is on a gluten-free diet. It has helped his arthritis tremendously. I have never baked anything gluten-free for him, but would pass this package of goodies straight to him. He loves to bake, but hasn't done as much since starting the diet. Plus, he lives in Canada, where these products aren't available!
I've baked, and blogged, gluten-free twice before - the first was a lemon arrowroot wafers and the other was also almond arrowroot, inspired by the uraro cookies of Marinduque, Philippines!
I've done some gluten free baking and they turned out OK. Nothing great yet so I'd love to try these.
I am allergic to wheat products. How very sad isn't it! So finding great tasting gluten free desserts have always been a plus.

I am definitely intrigued by the gluten free. I've never eaten anything gluten free... Please count me in as I would like to try.
